Smaller Learning Communities

Thank you for your interest in Walter Reed’s Smaller Learning Communities! Matching educational and social opportunities to each child’s needs and abilities is our goal. Each SLC provides a challenging, educational experience in a safe, supportive environment that promotes self-discipline, motivation, and excellence in learning. Currently we have a total of 743 students enrolled in the different programs on our campus:

  • Culinary Academy
  • Environmental Science Academy
  • Humanities Academy
  • Individualized Honors Program
  • School for Advanced Studies
  • Technology Academy

Please download our SLC Brochure if you would like more information.Prospective students and their parents are most welcome to visit Reed’s SLC and meet the teachers. Please call the SLC office to reserve a tour date. Our tours are conducted on the following Wednesdays, commencing 8:45am:

Applications and Teacher Recommendations for the Smaller Learning Communities are due:

  • February 27, 2009

You may download an application from this website (click on the program for which you wish to apply) or come by the school main office to pick up an application packet. The school office is open until 4:30 pm most school days.
